FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is an escape room?
An escape room is a live puzzle game in which you and your team have a set time limit to solve a number of puzzles, and ultimately "escape" from the room. the game requires no outside knowledge, meaning everything you need to solve each puzzle will be found inside the room. This is a game of teamwork and cooperation, not a contest.
How many people can play at a time?
We recommend between four and six people for Nuclear Option, but can accommodate three to seven. Due to limited space and game flow, only groups between three and seven will be able to play.
What does it cost?
We charge $36 per person.
Where is the game?
We are located in the parking lot behind the Secret Rose Theatre. We have two parking spaces available. If you're bringing multiple cars, allow yourself some extra time to find street parking.
When should we arrive?
Plan on spending 90 minutes with us from start to finish. Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in to ensure your game starts promptly at your scheduled time. Our games are booked back-to-back, so if you arrive late we may be forced to take some time off the clock. Anybody latecomers in your party may join you mid-game.
Is it safe?
Though you will be restrained at the start of the game, every player has an emergency release option. In the event of an emergency, the main door of the shipping container, though closed, will not be locked.
Is it scary?
Our games are designed to be a fun, challenging experience — not to freak you out. That said, you will be shackled and confined inside a shipping container, so if you suffer from extreme claustrophobia, this may not be the game for you.
What is your age limit?
We kindly request that you are at least 18 years old to play.
What if we can't make it?
24 hours notice is required for a full refund. With less notice than that, we can happily reschedule your game based on availability.
Can we play under the influence?
If our game master deems your group to be too far under the influence to play safely, your game will be rescheduled.
Escape rooms, in addition to being live role-playing puzzle games, are a form of immersive theater; a participative, interactive, theatrical experience where the 'fourth wall' that physically and emotionally separates the performer from the audience is not just broken, but eliminated. In our increasingly digital world, immersive theater & escape rooms satisfy the desire for actual hands-on experiences. The observer becomes the performer. You are the story-teller. You are the show. You are live art. We just provide the stage.
So, it was only natural to build our first game behind the Secret Rose Theatre in the NoHo Arts District. At ESC Escape Rooms, we strive to create a truly immersive, story-driven, and entertaining escape experience.
"Nuclear Option" puts you inside two actual 25-foot shipping containers. Our future escape rooms at this location will have the same level of authenticity and detailed attention.
Thanks for playing. Break a leg. Not really. But maybe.
